Shannon D. Cepica Memorial Scholarship
Shannon D. Cepica
1972-2020
UT Dallas has lost a wonderful leader, colleague and friend with the recent passing of Shannon Cepica, Assistant Vice President for Customer Service & IT Business Affairs. Shannon joined UTD in 2015 and immediately began making a difference with his overhaul of what was then known as the Office of Information Resources business services. His guidance soon proved vital as he successfully navigated the first of several budget cuts with little direct impact to the staff. Shannon’s customer-first reputation became so apparent that he was tapped to lead the IT Client Services team. Between his astute hires, talented staff and strategic focus, Client Services became a shining star on campus. In 2017, Shannon was asked to also oversee IT’s Marketing, Communications and Outreach team. In addition to his service to the IT Team, Shannon was also an adjunct professor in the Jindal School of Management.
“Shannon was much more than a solid executive IT leader. His best role that he cherished was as a devoted family man. He made each one of his three children feel special and connected.” - Frank Feagans
“Shannon was an incredible mentor and supervisor who was kind, understanding, and truly cared about UTD’s success.” – Pulin Bhatt
“He was always looking for ways to make the student experience better.” - Ansel Chetty
The Goal
To preserve his legacy, UT Dallas is raising funds to establish the Shannon D. Cepica Memorial Scholarship as a permanent endowment. This fund will provide four-year scholarships for Jindal School students with financial need who are seeking an undergraduate degree in either accounting, business administration, finance, or information technology and systems. The dean of the Jindal School has offered a dollar-for-dollar match up to $12,500 for all gifts to this fund.
Help us honor Shannon by joining his family, friends and former colleagues as we create a lasting impact in Shannon’s memory.
*If we are unable to raise $12,500 in gifts before December 31, 2022, all contributions will be used to provide immediate scholarships for students in the Jindal School.
