Dr. James Jerger, with his wife, Dr. Susan Jerger, served on the UT Dallas faculty from 1997 - 2014. As Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences, he worked with the program in applied cognition and neuroscience and at the Callier Center with the communication sciences and disorders program. He was a founder of the American Academy of Audiology, serving as the academy’s first president and as editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology from 1989 to 2011. In addition, he served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Speech, Language and Hearing Research from 1963-1970. His research focused on auditory processing disorders in children and seniors, and he wrote or co-wrote more than 310 publications in audiology. The Callier Center at UT Dallas is honored to receive donations in his name through the Susan and Jim Jerger Research in Audiology Fellowship.
